The most under-priced cost in mystery pack math is getting the card to your door. Digital pulls live in a vault; turning one into a physical slab means paying redemption shipping. US shipments commonly land near $16. On a $400 grail that is noise. On a $30 pull it is a haircut of more than half.

Does Courtyard ship internationally?

Yes — Courtyard states plainly that it ships worldwide. Shipments leave its vault in Delaware by FedEx. Budget up to 10 business days for Courtyard to process the request before the carrier even has it, then normal FedEx transit time from Delaware to you. You get a tracking number by email, and orders cannot be edited once submitted, so check the address before confirming.

So the honest answer to “can I redeem from Australia or the UK” is yes. The useful answer is that it costs meaningfully more than the shipping quote suggests, for a reason the quote alone never shows you.

The cost non-US buyers miss: import tax

Shipping is not the only line item. Import tax is charged on the declared value when the parcel lands, and Courtyard publishes its own rate table by country. The crucial difference between countries is not the rate — it is the threshold. The United States exempts imports under $800. Most of Europe exempts nothing at all, so the tax applies from the first dollar of declared value.

Compare your two real exits. Instant-selling a $30 FMV pull nets about $25.38 — the observed 84.6% buyback. Redeeming it costs $16 in shipping to convert that liquid value into a slab worth $30 at retail. You paid $16 to gain roughly $5 of paper value, which is a bad trade by any measure.

The practical rule: redeem only when the card is worth at least three to four times the total landed cost, or batch several pulls into one shipment to spread the flat portion. Below that, the instant buyback usually nets you more.

Outside the US, the rule tightens. Import tax scales with card value while shipping stays roughly flat, so batching helps less and the threshold moves up rather than down. Take that $200 card: a US collector pays about $16 and nothing else, landing at $216 against a $169 instant sale — worth redeeming comfortably. A UK collector pays the same $16 plus 20% of declared value, roughly $40, landing near $256 for the identical card. A Swedish collector at 25% pays about $50. The card did not change; the exit did.

The workable version for non-US buyers: add your import tax rate to the shipping quote before applying the 3-to-4-times rule, and treat the instant buyback as the default exit for anything mid-value. Batching still helps with the shipping half, but nothing spreads a percentage.

Where the typical pull actually falls
